This year at the Genoa Science Festival IMEM staff propose “S.O.S. - Save Our Springs. Sustainability Escape Room”, a playful-laboratory activity for visitors.
In this laboratory, structured as an Escape Room, five teams competitively tackle three major challenges of sustainable development: the criticality of the most important chemical elements for green technologies, devices to generate and convert energy from sun and wind, and electrochemical batteries. The challenges respond to the S.O.S. coming from the Planet in the midst of climate emergency and requiring us to make a radical change of approach, one that primarily assesses the criticality of resources and addresses the development of technologies for recycling advanced materials. It is only by following this approach that we can produce and store energy from clean and renewable sources, through systems based on efficient and responsible use of resources and following a circular approach.
