How can atoms be seen? With special instruments!
Scanning probe microscopes allow matter to be observed at magnifications up to 1000 times greater than those of an optical microscope. During this activity, a macroscopic model of this particular microscope will be presented, allowing participants to understand how it is possible to visualize atoms or molecules beyond the capabilities of even the most powerful optical microscopes.
Organized by the Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism of the CNR and the Department of Physics of the University of Genoa.
