The main references for this Alliance are the Paris Agreement on climate change, the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and the European strategy for adaptation to climate change.

To achieve the goal, the involvement and coordination of all local, public and private "actors" is necessary, so that it will be possible to promote a transformation of the territory at every level, and Parma area will become a center of innovation in the field of response to climate change, developing specific projects to reduce environmental impact, new sustainable models of production, consumption and territorial planning, new low-impact tools.

The project consists of four stages. The first one is for planning and organization, in order to produce a mapping of the emissions on the territory. The second one is for the exchange of experiences. Both these first two stages will be completed within one year. During the third stage, actions will be defined, and finally the monitoring and certification of the territorial carbon balance will be undertaken. The model can then be exported to other provinces of Emilia - Romagna.

"New solutions are needed to combine our lifestyle with the salvation of the planet and research must do its part - declared the IMEM-CNR Director, Andrea Zappettini, ensuring the contribution of local skills but also of those of our largest public research body.
